About Me

Steamy Design is an independent studio where ideas, people, and skills converge to develop a wider vision for design, culture, and communication.

Founder / Creative Director

This is how you will find me most days. On the floor of my office, with paper and a pair of scissors in hand, folding something into shape. I have always been fascinated with materials, and have spent a great deal of time throughout my life, learning as much as I can about different substrates. How do these materials feel? Do they fold? How much weight can they hold? These are all questions that run though my head upon discovery of yet another medium. Plastics, metal, wood, paper, light – they all have limitations and strengths. It is this curiosity that has driven me and my team to push the limit of possibilities in both the physical world of ink on paper, as well as the non-tangible world of the web. This exploration is the foundation of Steamy Design.

We are an independent, small agency. Our people, a diverse mix of strategic, creative and collaborative talents, are chosen for their differences not their similarities. There is no such thing as a typical Steamster (as we like to call them); just a collective desire to provide extraordinary strategic and creative solutions.

Craft,
Originality &
Storytelling

Craft is a passion of ours, it’s what can make the difference between ordinary and extraordinary. Craft however takes many different forms. It can be delicate precision of the lettering artist, the rigorous art direction of photography, the dedication to colour matching, or a subtle play on words — the list is endless.

Originality. It’s blindingly obvious really, but original thinking is at the heart of what we do and cannot be compromised.

Story telling. It’s a bit of a popular word in the branding world at the moment but we have been doing it for years. Brands need a unique story, they need something that connects with people, and we need that story to start designing. Often, it’s already there – sometimes we have to really dig it out. It can be very simple or very deep and rich but either way it needs to be good. We bring these stories to life in a way that people ‘just get it’.
